Technical Secretariat at the UN
doCip’s technical secretariats take place throughout the year during international conferences on the rights of indigenous peoples in Geneva and New York. Our goal is to provide logistical support for the work of indigenous delegations that come from all over the world to participate in conferences. Each year, over one hundred volunteers participate in our technical secretariats, and thanks to this network we are able to provide the following free services:
Interpretation to and from English, French, Spanish and Russian for informal meetings.
Translation to and from English, French, Spanish and Russian.
Documentation for meetings
Technical support
Gathering and categorizing statements during meetings
Guides for new participants
Contacts with the local press
A link between indigenous delegations and the United Nations
A link with other international institutions
Photocopies and other administrative tasks
In order to provide these services, our technical secretariats put the following at the disposal of indigenous delegations:
An office to use as a workspace
Several computers and a printer
Internet connections
Telephone lines with local and international service
A fax line with local and international service
Photocopiers available in our office
Office supplies
